Leadership

Burke Electric Group is led by founder and President John Burke, a highly respected industry professional with more than 30 years of electrical construction experience across the Chicagoland region.

A 33-year member of IBEW Local 701, John has held every field leadership role—from Apprentice to Area General Foreman—giving him a rare, ground-up understanding of electrical construction, workforce management, and jobsite execution. He has also served as Director of Service Operations for one of the region’s premier electrical contractors, where he led large-scale service divisions and complex project portfolios.

John is a licensed City of Chicago Supervising Electrician and serves as the license holder for Burke Electric Group. His extensive safety training includes OSHA 30 and a full range of certifications covering critical work environments such as lifts, confined spaces, and other specialized operational requirements.

In addition, John is a Certified Level 1 Thermographer with extensive experience performing infrared thermography inspections for Tier 3 and Tier 4 data centers, hospitals, manufacturing facilities, educational institutions, and commercial properties throughout Illinois. He has successfully completed hundreds of thermographic studies and detailed reporting engagements, helping clients proactively identify risks and maintain system reliability.

John also played a key role in developing and implementing a top-tier NFPA 70B preventive maintenance program—recognized as a benchmark standard within the industry. His expertise in predictive maintenance, system performance, and electrical infrastructure planning is central to Burke Electric Group’s ability to deliver forward-thinking, high-value solutions.

Recognized as a thought leader in the industry, John has been invited to speak at multiple North American conferences hosted by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). He has presented on extending service beyond installation and developing comprehensive, forward-thinking programs aligned with NFPA 70B—helping shape best practices for electrical maintenance and long-term client support across the industry.
